Networking is child’s play.

Even though we know we’re supposed to do it, some of us just hate networking. We hate the pressure, and the din of people talking about themselves. We hate the glad-handing and the exchanging of business cards, and we particularly hate the plethora of wankers.
On the other hand, we need to meet other creative people. We need to develop ourselves professionally, and find out what’s going on ‘out there’. We need to find our peers and see how the world is working for them. We also need to find ways to overcome the loneliness that can cripple the self-employed. We need to escape from isolation, get our creative juices flowing, reconnect with the marketplace, and maybe make some new friends.
That’s what The Sandpit is all about. It’s about meeting other creative people, freelancers and not, home workers and not. It’s about drinkies and chit chat in the safe and friendly environment of the pub. Sure, it's a way of networking, but without the pressure, without the agenda and certainly without the wankers. All the benefits, none of the downsides.
